  • Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide signed a agreement to open its first Aloft hotel in Russia - in St-Petersburg, by 2015. The new property located in new business district in the North of the city will be a 3* hotel. Starwood operates 3 properties in Russia, including the National Hotel and Sheraton Palace in Moscow and W in St-Petersburg. In the next few years, Starwood will also open a second Sheraton in Moscow, as well as in Rostov on Don and Perm, and one Four Points by Sheraton in the Moscow region. Overall, Starwood will have 7 new properties in Moscow and the CIS in the next 3 years.

  • The famous Metropole Hotel, located just off Red Square in Moscow, has been sold for 8,874 billion roubles to the Russian owned Azimut Hotel chain. As one of Moscow landmarks, the Metropole was built in 1905 and is famous for its mosaic façade by Mikhail Vrubel.
  • Swissоtel Hotels & Resorts will start to manage a new luxury hotel and serviced apartment complex "Riviera Towers" in Kazan, Tatarstan. The construction of the new complex will start next year and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
