Moscow Still the Most Expensive City for Hotels in the World

hrgAccording to Hogg Robinson Group Survey of world hotel prices, Moscow again tops the charts as the most expensive destination for corporate travellers with the most expensive hotels according to the January-June 2009 figures. The average room price in the Russian capital is 268 GBP per night. Nevertheless, for the first time since inclusion in the survey, Moscow hotels have experienced a decline in rates of -14%. Abu Dhabi is the second most expensive at an average rate of 253 GBP per night, and Paris is third with the rate of 203 GBP per night. According to occupancy survey by Blackwood, the Moscow hotels had an occupancy rate of 40% in April-June 2009, compared to 75% in 2008.

 

International hotels finally come start opening up in Moscow in larger number

The landmark Hotel "Ukraine" will open in December 2010 as a 5*Radisson Royal, while the former Minsk Hotel located on Tverskaya street in the very center of Moscow will open in September 2010 as a 5* Intercontinental. Mandarin Orient also plans a hotel on the premises of Hotel Centralnaya also on Tverskaya street. Shangri-La will open its first Moscow under the Traders brand in the North-East of Moscow, while the first Lotte Hotel is expected to open in early 2010. Raffles Hotels & Resorts will open an historical 19th century building in the city center in 2011. The Four Seasons property located on the corner of the Red square is still under construction.
