signAir Arabia starts flying from Kazan to Sharja

As of March, 2012, Air Arabia will launch direct flights from Kazan (capital of Tatarstan) to Sharja in the United Arab Emirates. This is in addition to the flights started from Moscow and Ekaterinburg in 2011. In 2010, around 200,000 Russians visited Sharja, according to the airline.

New flight to Greece from St-Petersburg

Aegean Airlines plans to start direct flights from St-Petersburg to Thessaloniki during the summer of 2012. They will start off as a weekly flight and will then increase to 2 flights a week in the peak season.

Aeroflot takes over Vladivostok Avia

As of February 1, 2012, Aeroflot completes the takeover of Vladivostok Avia, which has been the main carrier for the Far East region. The brand VladAvia, however, will remain. All Moscow flights by VladAvia will move from Vnukovo airport to Sheremetievo, the Aeroflot hub.
