French airline Aigle Azur launched direct flights to Moscow from Paris in late July 2012. Flying from Paris Orly airport, it will fly to Vnukovo Airport in Moscow and operate 4 times a week. Aigle Azur is planning to share a code share agreement with Transaero which is also started a new Moscow-Paris flight on a same date. Until now this route has been monopolized by Aeroflot and Air France, the national carriers.
At the same time Virgin Atlantic announced the new direct flight London – Moscow, from the beginning of 2013. This may make it second carrier on the route, in addition to BA which took over BMI routing of London-Moscow. Virgin Atlantic do not disclose the details of the new flights.
As of December, 2012, S7 Airlines will launch a regular direct flight from Moscow to Verona in Italy. The route will be operated by Boeing 737-800 3 times a week. S7 is a member of oneworld® alliance and is one of the leading Russian airlines with hubs in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk.
According to the consumer survey by Momomdo, a comparative airline tickets booking site, 37% of Russian travellers are active users of mobile services available with airlines and 56% of them check-in online, 31% do a self check-in at the airports, but only 5% use mobile to check-in and collect the ticket at the airport.
