Spanair starts Moscow-Madrid route

logoAs of June, 2010, the Spanish Airline "Spanair" started charter flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Madrid on a weekly basis. This makes Madrid accessible by 3 direct routes from Moscow - by Spanair, Iberia and Aeroflot.

Megapolus launches charter flights to Zadar

Also from June, one of the leading Russian tour operators for Croatia, Megapolus Tours (part of Kuoni holding), started charter flights to Zadar, which will be a new destination for the Russian market. The flight will work until September and is operated by Yamal Airlines. Megapolus hopes the new flight will contribute to the increase in the number of clients, they send to Croatia from 5,000 in 2009 to 9,000 in 2010.

Hong Kong Airlines starts flying to Moscow

hongIn Mid June, Hong Kong Airlines started direct flights from Moscow to Hong Kong, 3 times a week. According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, 28,000 Russians visited the country during the first 3 months of 2010. The NTO aims to have up to 13 weekly flights to Hong Kong with different carriers by July 2010, with a totally capacity of 13,000 seats per month. In July, 2 more carriers are launching direct flights from Moscow to Hong Kong - Cathay Pacific and Transaero.

 

7th flight a week from Moscow to Lisbon by TAP Portugal

TAP Portugal is adding one more flight from Moscow to Lisbon, making it a daily flight as of July, 2010, with 7 flights per week for the summer season. According to the airline, during the first 3 months of 2010 an increase of 24% of passenger traffic from Russia to Portugal was recorded. TAP Portugal hopes that the Russian Tour Operators will be using the route also for the connecting flights to Latin America, which also constantly growing in demand as a destination for Russia.
