Transaero, one of Russia's leading airlines, Transaero, announced the increase of its regular flights from Moscow to Thailand for the 2011-2012 winter season, making a total of 21 flights per week, 10 flights to Phuket and 11 to Bangkok. Transaero will also increases its flight frequency of flights to Maldives, to 3 flights a week and, two flights a week to Mauritius and Bali, which shows the increasing popularity of the Indian ocean destinations in Russia. There is also an increase in flights to Asian destinations for the winter period, including 3 flights a week to Vietnam, 2 flights a week to Hainan (China) and Goa, India 4 times a week. There are also unconfirmed weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Transaero has confirmed flights from St-Petersburg to Bangkok, Phuket and Varadero and Punta Cana in the Caribbean.

Aeroflot Russia's national carrier has launched new flights to Cancun, Colombo and Ho Chi Min city. Aeroflot will also double the no of flights to Barcelona (from 7 to 14 per week) and flights to Hong Kong from 4 to 7 per week. Other long haul destinations receiving an increase in flight frequency including: Punta Cana to 3 flights per week, Tel Aviv will have daily flights, while flights to  Shanghai will double in frequency from 7 to 14 per week.
