Where will Russians like to spend their holidays?

According to the latest research of the Russian Public Opinion Research Center, over 30% of Russians would like to spend their holidays abroad, but in reality 56% of them will stay at home, 20% will go to their summer houses in the countryside (dacha) whilst 8% visit a Black sea or Baltic seaside resorts and another 20% will go to the Black sea coast in Ukraine.
The number of Russians travelling abroad increases year on year, and 2011 was no exception to this tendency. The average spent increased by 5% compared to 2010. The highest figures for spend are for Moscow and St-Petersburg residents who spend an average of $800 per a trip.
Commenting on this research, Vladimir Kaganer, the Director of Tez Tour, a leading Russian Tour Operator, noted that for Russians travelling abroad for their holidays the most popular destinations are: Turkey, Spain and Greece. Egypt has also become an increasingly popular summer destination for Russian over the last few years, but there has been a sharp reduction this year of up to 40%.
