New Hotel openings in Russia and Azerbaijan

Park Inn will open its first hotel in the Southern Russian city of Astrtakhan. The Rezidor Hotel Group, of which Park Inn is one of their hotel brands, plans to open up another 20 Park Inn properties in Russia in the next few years.
Kempinski has also opened its third property in the black sea resort town of Gelendzhik. The 379-room Kempinski Grand Hotel Gelendzhik has its own private beach and is the Kempinski's first coastal resort in Russia. It also operates 2 city properties in Moscow and St-Petersburg. Kempinski has also made its debut in Baku, Azerbaijan with the opening of the Kempinski Hotel Badamdar this summer.

The Sheraton will also open its first Sheraton hotel property in Baku in the airport area. This will be the first Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide brand in Azerbaijan, as part of its Central and Eastern Europe expansion plan, Starwood has one property in Moscow and 2 in Georgia.

 

Moscow beats Baku as the most expensive city

moscowAccording to HRS research (Hotel Portal's Eastern European Hotel Price Radar), Moscow hotels continue to be the most expensive accommodation in Europe, with the average price per night at 138 GBP. It is followed by Baku, which will host the Eurovision song contest in 2012, with 101 GBP per night. The most affordable cities in the region are Budapest and Prague, where the average price per night is around 63 GBP.
Another hotel research, Hotel Price Barometer by hotel.info, confirms Moscow as the most expensive European city, and New York has the most pricy hotels on a global level. The Top 5 most expensive European cities, according to the hotel.info, are as follows (prices in Euro):
