As of June 2013, S7 and Iberia started a code-sharing agreement for flights from Moscow to the Canary islands via Madrid. For the summer period, Iberia has started flights to Madrid from St Petersburg, from June 30th to Sept 1st, 2013.
Also in June, Icelandair started flights between St Petersburg and Reykjavik, twice a week, until Sept 17th, 2013.
Germania Airlines is now flying 3 times a week from Domodedovo Airport in Moscow to Bremen, Germany.
On June 19th, China Southern launched a direct flight from Moscow to Guangzhou, where Russians can visit for 72 hours without applying for a visa.
From July, Swiss Airlines will start direct flights from St Petersburg to Geneva, this will be an all year round flight with a flight frequency of 2-3 times a week.
SriLankan Airlines announced direct flights from Moscow to Colombo flight will no longer be via Dubai starting from October 29th, 2013. The new flight will be operated 3 times a week, instead of 2 times in previous years. In 2012, 28,000 Russians visited Sri Lanka, which was 17% increase from 2011.

Aeroflot is setting up a new airline for the Russian Far East and invited its passengers to take part in creating a name for the new airline, via twitter. This is the first time that a Russian airline has tried to engage with such a large audience and it is definitely the first time in Aeroflot’s history. The name for the new carrier will be announced by Internet voting.
