In 2011, the Four Seasons is planning to open its first property in Russia, in St-Petersburg, they are also in the process of constructing a hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Hilton will open a hotel at the popular Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik, near Sochi, (the host city of the next Winter Olympic Games). It will be a second international brand coming to the region after the Radisson SAS in Sochi. In February, Accor opened a 4* Novotel hotel in Yekaterinburg. Starwood Hotels & Resorts will manage a Sheraton hotel in Perm by 2013, while the Rezidor Hotel Group has signed an agreement for the construction of Park Inn hotel in Lipetsk and a Radisson Blu in Kaliningrad by the summer of 2010.

In Moscow, the Russian Accord Hospitality Group opened a new 4 star hotel Sadovoye Koltso in Moscow, while the Korean owned Lotte Hotel will open its first hotel in Moscow, this is a prestige 5* property which will be a member of Leading Hotels of the World and is scheduled to open in May, 2010. However, while much needed new hotels are opening across Russia, the average occupancy rate in 2009 in Moscow hotels dropped by 36%. Nevertheless, the average cost per room night, is still one of the world's highest, at $267 per night.
